Seniors Secure Full-Ride Scholarships!

Six seniors from Roxbury Prep High School are celebrating a remarkable achievement: full four-year scholarships to prestigious colleges such as Princeton, Vassar, and Vanderbilt. For these students, the scholarships like QuestBridge and Posse, not only alleviate the financial burden of college but also signify a profound sense of accomplishment and pride.

Welcome to Roxbury Prep HS

Roxbury Prep High School is aa free, public high school serving approximately 800 students across two campuses. The Lower School (Grade 9) located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston, and the Upper School (Grade 10-12) is located in Roxbury. We prepare each student to enter, succeed in, and graduate from college by developing within them extraordinary academic skills, a life-long passion for learning, and the values that define strong character. Students graduating from one of Roxbury Prep’s middle school campuses, and students drawn from a lottery have the opportunity to attend RPHS.

The High School Experience

At RPHS, we provide students with an education experience that combines joy, rigor, and hard work every day. We are committed to providing all students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for college and beyond.

Academics and Culture

At RPHS, we seek to create a purposeful and challenging student experience that will be shaped by three critical elements: rigorous academic curriculum, holistic school culture and integrated technology.

Longer School Day

To ensure that every student masters each and every standard, we provide students with a longer school day. We also provide homework help and after-school tutoring, and Saturday School for students who need extra support.

Rigorous Academic Curriculum

Scholars will engage in a college preparatory course of study that is aligned to College Board and Common Core standards and proven to best prepare students for success in college and beyond.

Holistic School Culture

Scholars will be members of a supportive and diverse community that contributes to the development of a strong sense of self, a bias for action, an ability to persevere, and an appetite for the wonders of life.

Integrated Technology

On a daily basis, scholars will apply innovative and responsible uses of technology to advance their academic learning, create original content across all subjects, and develop industry-specific skills and practices.

Athletics and Enrichment

In 2018, Roxbury Prep HS launched an new program to ensure scholars have the opportunity to expand their passions outside of academic content. By exposing students to new opportunities of their choice, and providing support from the best coaches and facilitators, students become well-rounded individuals and better prepared for college and beyond.

Football

Now in its fifth year, the Roxbury Prep High School football team competes in the Division 8 North bracket. In 2018, the team made the playoffs in their first varsity season. Roxbury Prep is a proud member of the Massachusetts Charter School Athletic Organization.

College Access and Success

Our college success team works with our students to ensure our high school students are prepared for college and beyond.

Preparing for College and Beyond

The high school’s College Access and Success team is active in organizing school visits by college recruiters as well as student trips to college campuses. The team further supports college preparation by coordinating student participation in summer and year-long enrichment programs to strengthen preparation for college. Our college team spends much of its time providing support to alumni as they navigate college life.

Our students receive support with SAT and ACT tests, collecting high school transcripts, editing personal essays, filing FAFSA, and submitting college applications.
