Roxbury Prep Network Leaders
Dana Lehman is the Managing Director for Roxbury Prep. Dana Lehman joined Uncommon Schools in July 2010 as Managing Director of the Roxbury Prep network. She previously served as Co-Director for Curriculum and Instruction at Roxbury Prep for six years. Ms. Lehman also served as an eighth grade Science teacher and the Enrichment Coordinator at Roxbury Prep. Prior to Roxbury Prep, Ms. Lehman taught Physics at Fort Worth Country Day School and Radnor High School. She also served as Director of Summerbridge Fort Worth, a non-profit academic enrichment program. Ms. Lehman holds a B.A. in Physics from Swarthmore College and an M.A. in Educational Studies from Tufts University.
Will Austin is the Chief Operating Officer for Roxbury Prep. Prior to becoming the Chief Operating Officer of the Uncommon Schools Roxbury Prep Network, Will Austin served as the Co-Director at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Mr. Austin taught sixth grade Math Problem Solving. In addition, Mr. Austin served as the Enrichment Coordinator and the Summer School Director at Roxbury Prep. Before joining the staff at Roxbury Prep, Mr. Austin received a two-year teaching fellowship at The Steppingstone Foundation. He holds an A.B. in Government from Harvard University and an M.A. in Educational Studies from Tufts University.
Roxbury Prep Mission Hill Campus Leaders
Ryan Kelly is the Principal of Roxbury Prep. Mr. Kelly was previously a 7th grade Math Problem Solving teacher, Math Department Coach and Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at Roxbury Prep. Before coming to Roxbury Prep, Mr. Kelly taught 7th and 8th grade Math and Science at MicroSociety Magnet School in New Haven, CT as a Teach for America corps Member. Mr. Kelly holds an M.A.T. from Simmons College and a B.A. in Government and International Relations from Clark University.
Eddie Branchaud is the Director of Operations at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Mr. Branchaud was the 7th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep. Before coming to Roxbury Prep, Mr. Branchaud served as the Principal of the Robert Muller LIFE School in Panajachel, Guatemala. Prior to that, Mr. Branchaud served for three years as a 7th/8th grade science and math teacher, Grade Team Leader, and Science Department Chair at the Bronx Latin School, where he was a Teach for America corps member. Mr. Branchaud holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University, an M.S. in Education from Bank Street College of Education, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus Leaders
Adam Seidel is the Director of Operations at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Mr. Seidel is excited to build on the accomplishments of RPLS’s first two years and support its continued growth and success. Mr. Seidel served as the Director of Special Projects at Roxbury Prep Dorchester Campus during its founding year. Prior to joining the Roxbury Prep Network, Mr. Seidel worked at Common Cents in New York for nine years, where he served as the Managing Director of The Penny Harvest, National Program Director, and Community Development Fellow. Mr. Seidel holds a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Politics from Oberlin College and a Master’s in Public Administration from Baruch College.
Roxbury Prep Dorchester Campus Leaders
Nikki Hawkins Bynoe is the Director of Operations for Roxbury Prep Dorchester Campus. As a founding school leader of RPDC, Nikki is excited to continue to increase the number of students that enter, succeed in, and graduate from college in Boston. Nikki has served as the Director of Finance and Operations at the Trinity Boston Foundation, Program Manager at Commonwealth Corporation, and has held positions at several social service organizations. She has a B.A. in Human Services from the University of Massachusetts, an M.S. in Organizational Management and Leadership from Springfield College.
Amy Zaffuto is the Principal for Roxbury Prep Dorchester Campus. As a founding school leader of RPDC, Amy is excited to continue bringing an excellent education to more students in the city of Boston. Amy has served as Co- Director for Curriculum and Instruction, 7th grade Science teacher, and Director of Students at Roxbury Prep. Before joining Roxbury Prep, she worked as an educational instructor for the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, Florida. Roxbury Prep High School Campus Leaders
Shradha M. Patel is the Co-Founder and Instructional Fellow for Roxbury Prep High School. Ms. Patel previously served as Principal and Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Prior to this, she was the Middle Academy Director at Excellence Boys Charter School, also part of Uncommon Schools, in Brooklyn, NY. Before moving to New York, Shradha served as the 8th Grade History Teacher, Enrichment Coordinator, and Graduate Services Coordinator for 6 years at Roxbury Prep’s Mission Hill campus. Shradha received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Brown University and a Masters’ Degree in History from Tufts University.
Juan G. Fernandez is the Co-Founder and Operations Fellow for Roxbury Prep High School. Juan is excited to be part of the Roxbury Prep team and to partner with S. Patel in the design and launch of RPHS. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Juan worked for GE Capital, the finance arm of General Electric, in a variety of transaction and marketing roles in New York, Connecticut and Hong Kong. Juan previously worked to support K-12 education reform as a Leadership Fellow with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle and as a community organizer with the Industrial Areas Foundation in Texas. Juan was a student within the Houston Independent School District and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies and a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from Harvard.
Roxbury Prep Network Staff
Jill Seaman is a School Nurse for the Roxbury Prep Network. She previously gained experience in both community and pediatric health during her time with Women of Means and Boston’s Camp Joy. Prior to becoming a nurse, Ms. Seaman worked in collegiate athletics for five years culminating in her tenure as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Wentworth Institute of Technology. She holds a B.A. in History from Wellesley College, a M.Ed. in Health and Human Performance from McNeese State University, and a B.S. in Nursing from Simmons College.
Oliver Truog is a Director of Special Projects at Roxbury Prep. Before becoming Director of Special Projects, Oliver Truog was the founding Director of Operations of Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. He began his work with Roxbury Prep as an Operations Fellow at Roxbury Prep Mission Hill Campus in October 2010. Previously, Mr. Truog owned and operated a construction business in Kansas City, MO and worked in international development in Ukraine. He holds a B.A. in Russian and East European Studies from Middlebury College and an International M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
Mara Rodríguez is Director of Special Projects for the Preparatory Network in Boston. Previously, she was the 5th grade founding teacher at the Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone campus, Director of Students at the Roxbury Prep Mission Hill campus and 6th grade math teacher at the Roxbury Prep Mission Hill campus. As a 6th grade math teacher, Mara was awarded the EPIC Spotlight Teacher Award for leading her students to attain the highest gains in math skill proficiency in the state of Massachusetts and among the highest classroom achievement gains from 150 participating charter schools nationwide. Prior to entering the field of education, she worked in various marketing roles at Procter and Gamble, culminating as the Global Associate Marketing Director for the Pampers brand. As Marketing Director, Mara led the development of the overall business strategy and marketing planning for the premium line of Pampers across 5 geographic regions. Mara earned her B.S. in Engineering and M.B.A. from Tulane University and her Master’s in Education from Harvard University.
Brianna Sanders is one of the nurses a Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Ms. Sanders is a part of the second graduating class of Roxbury Prep, and attended Regis College, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She also holds a specialization in medical technology and community health nursing.
MaryAdair McGrath is the Director of Individual Needs for Roxbury Prep. Ms. McGrath formerly served as Director of Special Projects and the Individual Needs Coordinator at Roxbury Prep Dorchester Campys. MaryAdair spent three years at YES Prep in Houston, where she served as the Special Education Teacher and Department Chair. She was a member of Teach for America’s 2009 Houston Corps, and she earned her B.A. in Government from Georgetown University.

Lindsey Allen is the Learning Specialist at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Ms. Allen was an Apprentice Literacy Teacher also at Roxbury Prep and worked as an Executive Assistant at Clear Path Educational Consulting Firm in Boston. Ms. Allen also served as a Summer Teaching Fellow at Roxbury Prep in 2011. She holds a B.A. in Communication Science and Disorders from the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH.
Titciana Barros is the Dean of Students and Real Men Read coordinator at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Ms. Barros was the 6th grade Math X teacher at Roxbury Prep as a Teach for America corps member. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, she served as a Summer Teaching Fellow at Excellence Boys Charter School in Brooklyn, New York. Ms. Barros attended Boston College, where she earned a B.S. in Theology.
Lauren Bauer is a Learning Specialist at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. Bauer worked as a teacher assistant with Smith STEM Elementary School and served as head counselor with Renbrook Summer Adventure in West Hartford Connecticut. Ms. Bauer holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Roger Williams University.
Jonathan Beck is the 6th grade Math Y teacher at Roxbury Prep. Mr. Beck previously worked as a student teacher at the Andrew Jackson Elementary School in Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Beck holds a B.A. in Political Science from Ithaca College and a MS in Education from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
Joe Connors is the School Counselor and Social Worker at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Mr. Connors worked as a clinical case coordinator at the Guidance Center of Riverside Community Care. Ms. Connors is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with an M.A. in Social Work from Boston University and a B.A. in Psychology from Connecticut College.
Susannah Cowden is the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Ms. Cowden was the 8th grade Science teacher and Science Department Coach also at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. Cowden was the Deputy Director of Mobilization for Be the Change, Inc. She also taught science at Gallup Junior High School in Gallup, NM as a Teach for America corps Member. Ms. Cowden received her B.A. in Environmental Studies and Geology from Middlebury College and her M.A.T. from Western New Mexico University.
Jermaine Curtis is an Alumni Services Coordinator at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Mr. Curtis was an Apprentice Literacy Teacher at Roxbury Prep. Before joining Roxbury Prep, Mr. Curtis was a tutor with MATCH High School’s freshman summer program and worked at Wellesley Information Services focusing on business development. He received his B.A. in Communications from Boston College.
Bryana Daughtry is the 5th grade Writing teacher at Roxbury Prep. Ms. Daughtry previously worked as an intern at the Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science in Washington, D.C., and served as a Summer Teaching Fellow at Roxbury Prep in 2012. Ms. Daughtry holds a BS in Human Development from Howard University.
Tara Davidson is the 5th grade Math X teacher at Roxbury Prep. Ms. Davidson previously worked as a 6th grade math teacher at the MATCH Charter Middle School in Jamaica Plain. Ms. Davidson holds a B.A. in Mathematical Sciences from Colby College.
Arelis Diñe is the 6th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep. Ms. Diñe is currently a Teach for America corps member. Ms. Diñe holds a B.A. in Sociology and Africana Studies. Ms. Diñe holds a B.A. in Sociology and Africana Studies from the College of the Holy Cross.
Mary Donahue is the 7th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep. Before coming to Roxbury Prep, Ms. Donahue was a 10th grade Biology teacher with Miami-Dade Public Schools. Ms. Donahue holds a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Anthropology from Fordham University. Ms. Donahue also received an M.S. in Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins University School of Education.
David Duane is the Dean of Students and Physical Education teacher at Roxbury Prep. Mr. Duane previously worked at The Manville School, Judge Baker Children's Center as a milieu counselor as well as the head basketball coach. Mr. Duane holds a B.A. in Journalism and English with a minor in Writing from Lehigh University.
Monica Duplessie is the 8th grade Writing teacher and Writing Department Facilitator at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. Duplessie was a Campus Director for Citizen Schools in both Massachusetts and California. She taught sixth grade at St. Joseph’s School in Roxbury, M.A. and was an AmeriCorps volunteer. Ms. Duplessie holds a B.A. in English Literature from Wellesley College and an M.A.T. at Simmons College.
April Duquette is the Dance teacher at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Ms. Duquette served as a part-time dance enrichment and after-school teacher at Roxbury Prep, and also taught dance at Dana Hall and the Capachione School of Performing Arts. Ms. Duquette holds a B.A. in Theater and Education from Suffolk University.
Carlene Ferreira is an Alumni Services Coordinator at Roxbury Prep. Before coming to Roxbury Prep, Ms. Ferreira was a social work intern with South End Community Health Center and Year Up in Boston. Ms. Ferreira holds a B.A. in International Relations from Boston University and a Master of Social Work from Simmons College.
Jamie Gumpper is the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Mr. Gumpper was the 6th grade History teacher and Instructional Coach at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Mr. Gumpper was a 5th grade history teacher at Bedford Stuyvesant Collegiate Charter School in New York. Mr. Gumpper has an M.S. in Education from Hunter College and holds a B.A. in French from Dartmouth College.
Kara Higgins is the 8th grade Algebra teacher and 8th Grade Level Leader at Roxbury Prep. Ms. Higgins previously taught high school math at EDCO Youth Alternative in Boston and 7th and 8th grade math at Smith Leadership Academy Charter School. Ms. Higgins holds has an M.A.T. from Simmons College and a B.S. in Political Science from Drew University.
Gladi Jackson is the Office Manager at Roxbury Prep. Before coming to Roxbury Prep, Mrs. Jackson was the quality assurance performance manager with PediPathways and Pathways Hospice. Mrs. Jackson is a graduate of Roxbury Community College and is certified as a nutrition specialist and personal trainer.
Andrew Jarboe is the 8th grade History teacher, History Department Facilitator, and an Instructional Coach at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Mr. Jarboe was a World History Teaching Assistant at Northeastern University. Mr. Jarboe has worked as a World History teacher at Harlem Village Academies Charter High School and as a U.S History teacher for Teach for America. Mr. Jarboe holds a B.A. in History from Bates College, an M.S. in Teaching from Pace University and a Ph.D. in World History from Northeastern University.
Meredith John is the 8th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep. Ms. John is currently a Teach for America Corps Member. Ms. John holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago.

Chi Lakhani is the Director of Special Projects at Roxbury Prep. Prior to Roxbury Prep, Ms. Lakhani was a recruiting and admissions specialist at Education Pioneers and served as a policy research specialist with the Abu Dhabi Education Council in the United Arab Emirates. Ms. Lakhani holds a B.A. in Economics with Wellesley College and an M.Ed. in International Education Policy with Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Noel Luciano Quivey is the 6th grade Reading teacher, Reading Department Facilitator, and an Instructional Coach at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. Luciano Quivey was an English Language Arts teacher at The School for Inquiry and Social Justice, Middle School in New York. Ms. Luciano Quivey has a B.A in English Writing and French from St. Lawrence University and holds an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from The City College of New York, School of Urban Education.
Eric Luby is the 6th grade Math X teacher at Roxbury Prep. Mr. Luby previously worked with Upward Bound where he taught an SAT math preparation course and led an outdoor adventure elective. Mr. Luby received a B.A. in Mathematics from Lafayette College.
Ashley Miranda is an Alumni Services Coordinator at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. Miranda was a teaching fellow with Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot School in Boston. Ms. Miranda holds a B.A. in English from Amherst College.
Emily Monteiro is the Director of Alumni Services at Roxbury Prep. She previously served Roxbury Prep as a special education assistant and Tae Kwon Do enrichment teacher. Prior to working at Roxbury Prep, Ms. Monteiro was a summer teaching assistant for Building Educated Leaders for Life. She holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and an MSW from Boston College.
Elizabeth Nugent is the 7th grade Pre-Algebra teacher and 7th Grade Level Leader at Roxbury Prep. Ms. Nugent previously worked as a math teacher at Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center in Dorchester. Ms. Nugent holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and Psychology from Stonehill College and an M.Ed. in Urban Elementary Education from Simmons College.
Shedane Olukoga is the 5th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep. Ms. Olukoga previously was an Apprentice Science and Literacy Teacher at Roxbury Prep. Before working at Roxbury Prep, Ms. Olukoga attended Regis College, where she earned a B.A. in Management.
Dana O’Neal is the 7th grade Math Problem Solving teacher and Math Department Facilitator at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. O’Neal was a tutor and math teacher at MATCH Corps in Boston. Ms. O’Neal holds a B.S. in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University.
Freddie Palmer is the 5th grade Math Y teacher at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. Palmer was a 6th grade teacher with Worcester Public Schools in Worcester, MA. Ms. Palmer holds a B.A in Psychology and an M.A. in Teaching from Clark University.
Noemiley Perez is a Learning Specialist at Roxbury Prep. She previously served Roxbury Prep as an assistant to the Co-Directors and a tutor and botany enrichment teacher. Ms. Perez holds a B.A in Psychology with a minor in Spanish and Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Dwayne Robinson is the Athletic Director and a Physical Education teacher at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Mr. Robinson was a permanent substitute teacher at Bristol/Warren Regional School District and Springfield Public Schools and taught physical education at Kennedy Middle School. Mr. Robinson holds a B.A. in Movement and Sports Studies from Springfield College and an M.S. in Athletic Administration from Ohio University.
Leonard Russ is an Alumni Services Coordinator at Roxbury Prep. Prior to Joining Roxbury Prep, Mr. Russ worked as a Clinical Therapist at the Counseling Center providing therapy for children, teens, and adults. He also conducted group therapy with adolescent boys and co-facilitated group therapy within the correctional system for adult males. Mr. Russ holds a Bachelor’s of Social Work (BSW) from NC Agricultural & Technical SU and an MSW from Boston University.
Megan Satterthwaite is the 7th grade History teacher at Roxbury Prep. Ms. Satterthwaite previously worked as a History teacher at the Camden City Accelerated Academy in Camden, NJ as a Teach for America corps member. Ms. Satterthwaite holds a B.A. in History from Boston College.
Hannah Schneider-Lynch is an Alumni Services Coordinator at Roxbury Prep. Ms. Schneider-Lynch previously worked as an Americorps college completion coach at College Forward in Austin, TX. Ms. Schneider-Lynch holds a B.A. in German from the University of Puget Sound.
Carolyn Sparkes is the 5th grade Reading teacher and 5th Grade Level Leader at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Ms. Sparkes served as an Apprentice Literacy Teacher at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. Sparkes taught writing at Summerbridge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Marisa Taylor is the 7th grade Writing teacher at Roxbury Prep. Previously, Ms. Taylor was the 7th grade English teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Prior to working with Roxbury Prep, Ms. Taylor was a 5th through 8th grade teacher at Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center in Dorchester. Meaghann Taylor is the 8th grade Reading teacher at Roxbury Prep. Prior to working with Roxbury Prep, Ms. Taylor was an 11th grade U.S. History teacher at North Star Academy in Newark, NJ. Ms. Taylor holds a B.A. in Secondary Education and History from Boston College, Lynch School of Education.
Jessica Thorn is the 6th grade Writing teacher and 6th Grade Level Leader at Roxbury Prep. Ms. Thorn previously served as an Apprentice Literacy Teacher at Roxbury Prep. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. Thorn was a student-teacher at Schuylerville Elementary School in Schuylerville, NY, Greenfield Elementary School in Greenfield, NY, and Edendale Primary School in Pretoria, South Africa. Ms. Thorn holds a B.A. in Education Studies from Skidmore College.
Matthew Wintheiser is a Learning Specialist at Roxbury Prep. Mr. Wintheiser is a Teach for America corps member and previously worked as a Special Learning teacher at the Lawrence Public Schools in Lawrence, MA as well as a Middle School Specialist at the Mario Umana Academy in Boston. Mr. Wintheiser holds a B.A. in Broadcast Media Studies, Journalism from Gonzaga University and an M.Ed in Special Education-Mild to Moderate Disabilities from Boston University.
Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus Staff
Ramón Alicea III is a 5th grade Literacy teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Previously, Mr. Alicea taught early elementary in Boston Public Schools for four years. He holds a B.A. from Bates College and a M.Ed. from University of Massachusetts.
Eleanor Allen is the School Social Worker at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. She has extensive experience in social services, legal services and counseling. She is a licensed clinical social worker with over 7 years in psychotherapy practice in Boston. Eleanor graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science, has a Masters in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley, and a juris doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law.
Jason Armstrong is an Individual Needs teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Previously, Mr. Armstrong has taught 5th Grade Math at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Before joining the faculty at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone, Mr. Armstrong taught 6th grade math at Roxbury Preparatory Charter School for seven years. He holds an A.B. in Music from Harvard College and a Masters of Arts in Educational Studies at Tufts University.
Nikhil Bhatia is a 7th & 8th grade Math Teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Mr. Bhatia taught 6th grade math at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone for two years before transitioning to the 7th and 8th grade. Previously, Mr. Bhatia taught 6th grade Math and 9th grade Physics as a Teach for America corps member in Chicago. Last year, Mr. Bhatia taught Biology at Chelsea High School outside of Boston. Before teaching, Mr. Bhatia graduated as a James Scholar in Political Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Roshanee Bindra is a 5th grade Literacy teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone, Roshanee spent 8 years managing her own companies in New Jersey and Pennslyvannia. Her companies handle Gasoline Distribution, Real estate, and Gasoline Service Stations. As CEO and President, Roshanee has developed numerous market ventures to accelerate her companies market stand point against competition such as partnering with Sunoco, Exxon-Mobil, and Shell. Roshanee has a Master in Business Administration and a Master in Finance from Northeastern University.
Khushboo Bindra-Rangwala is the Dean of Students at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. She previously taught 5th grade science for three years. Prior to joining the faculty at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone, Mrs. Bindra-Rangwala taught 9th and 10th grade Biology, Environmental Science, and Physical Science in Hartford, CT as a Teach for America Corps Member. She received both her B.S. in Biology and M.Ed. in Instruction and Curriculum from Northeastern University.
Blake Bishop is a 7th grade English teacher Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. After joining Teach For America, Mr. Bishop accepted a position to teach at Thomas Johnson Middle School in the program’s DC Region. He taught seventh and eighth grade English and reading language arts for three years where his students were able to earn the highest reading scores in the school. Before beginning his career in education, he served a two-year LDS mission in the Philippines and graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in English and minors in business strategy and philosophy.
Amy Boss is the 8th grade Math teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone, Ms. Boss taught math at Manasquan High School in New Jersey. Before that she taught fifth grade at West Belmar School. Amy graduated from Kean University and received a double B.A. in Education and Mathematical Science.
Natasha Chaku is the 6th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Ms. Chaku graduated from Vassar College in 2012 with a degree in Cognitive Science concentrating on child development. In college she worked with many different after-school programs and helped to found an organization that provided SAT tutoring to high school juniors and seniors. This past year, she worked as a science teacher at Pincushion Montessori School.
Sheri Cheng is a 6th grade Math teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Ms. Cheng has been part of the Roxbury Prep community for over 11 years, serving as a Math teacher, the Director of Technology and as a part-time consultant and tutor. Prior to returning to Roxbury Prep, Ms. Cheng has worked at education tech start-ups in the Boston area. She holds a BA from MIT College and Master’s degrees from both MIT and Boston University.
Cathryn Cook is an 8th grade English teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Ms. Cook formerly served as a Match Corps tutor at Match Charter Public High School. Immediately after her Match Corps year, she helped to start a high-dosage math tutoring program in the Houston Independent School District. For the past two years, Ms. Cook has helped implement the Match Corps Math Fellows program at two high schools in Lawrence, MA, serving as Executive Director for this past school year. Ms. Cook holds a B.A. in English from Union College and a Master's in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Emily Corbett is a 7th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Prior to working at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone, Ms. Corbett taught 7th grade science at Weldon Middle School in Weldon, North Carolina, as a Teach for America corps member. She also coached volleyball and track. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Clark University, and holds a Master’s Degree in Community Development and Social Change from Clark University.
Jay Curtis is the Physical Education Instructor at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Prior to working at Roxbury Prep, Lucy Stone, Jay worked as the Outreach Coordinator for at-risk youth in Princeton, New Jersey for five years. He has also worked with Princeton High School’s Special Education Department, as well as served as an assistant coach for their football team. Jay received his B.S. from Springfield College in Sports Management.
Molly Dilworth is a 7th grade English teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Before joining the faculty at Roxbury Prep, Lucy Stone, Ms. Dilworth taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English as a Second Language at Paul Revere Middle School in Houston, Texas as a Teach for America corps member. She holds a B.A. in American Cultural Studies from Bates College.
Stephanie Ernst is a 7th grade Math teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Ms. Ernst has previously served as part of the Match Corps: Lawrence, tutoring math full-time in Lawrence Public High School. She began her educational career teaching children's theatre, dance and improv classes for various Chicago companies including Illinois Theatre Centre, Northlight Theatre, and Mudlark Theatre. She holds a Bachelor's in Theatre from Northwestern University.
Maegan Etesse is an Individual Needs instructor at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Ms. Atesse recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Bachelor Degree in Science. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, she worked as a substitute teacher for Brockton Public Schools.
Jennifer Etesse-Herring is a 7th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Ms. Etesse-Herring’s interest in teaching began after some years working in social services and observing a disconnect between “social work” and “education.” Ms. Etesse-Herring completed her undergraduate studies at Gordon College where she obtained a Bachelor’s in Theater Arts and Communications. She has also completed a Master’s in Education focusing on psychology and trauma studies.
Sari Fromson is a 5th grade Math Teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Previously Ms. Fromson comes to Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone by way of another Uncommon School, Leadership Prep Ocean Hill Elementary Academy, in Brooklyn, NY. Ms. Fromson was a founding First Grade Teacher at Leadership Prep, and taught first grade for two years. She also worked as a founding Third Grade Lead Teacher for two years. Sari received her B.S. in Psychology and Educational Studies from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. She received her M.S. in Education at Teacher U, Hunter College.
Katie Gallagher is the Office Manager at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Prior to joining the staff at Roxbury Prep, Ms. Gallagher was the Manager of Education Programs at the Celebrity Series of Boston where she developed and cultivated artist residencies and various community events that connected students and the public to great artists such as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Mark Morris Dance Group, Audra McDonald, and Olympia Dukakis. She also was the Program Manager for AileyCamp Boston, a free six-week summer dance camp for Boston middle school students, as well as its related after school program, ACT2. Ms. Gallagher holds a B.A. in Political Science and Russian/ East European Studies from Boston College.
Semhar Habtehans is the Director of Special Projects at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Ms. Habtehans is deeply committed to working with children and families and around issues of social justice. She has previously worked as a case manager in New York City's child welfare system and as a Research Assistant at the Young Men's Health Initiative at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University’s Center for Health and Community Education. Ms. Habtehans holds a Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Study from New York University and a Master's of Public Health from Columbia University.
Tyler Hammer is a 5th grade Math Teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. For the past year, Mr. Hammer worked as a teacher resident in first grade at CVS Highlander Charter School, second grade at the Gordon School, fifth grade at Paul Cuffee School, and finally sixth grade integrated math/science at the Gordon School again. During this time, Mr. Hammer assisted in the development of race-based affinity groups and professional development related to diversity. Mr. Hammer holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Bryant University and a M.A.T. in Elementary Education with a focus on Multicultural and Anti-Racist practices from Roger Williams University.
Ashley Herring is the Performing Arts Teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Ms. Herring graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA in African American Studies. She graduated from New York University with a MA in Educational Theatre. Her artistic background is professional storytelling and performing in musicals. While in New York, she was very fortunate to work on technical crews and as a stage manager for Off-Broadway musical and festivals. Ashley finds the most joy in assisting children explore their culture through theatre. Ashley is proud to be a part of Uncommon Schools and looks forward to fun and challenging times with scholars in theatre.
Allison Kramer is the 6th grade Math teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. After graduating from Kenyon College, Ms. Kramer moved to Boston. Upon her arrival, Ms. Kramer began working at MATCH Middle School in the Teacher Residency program. While doing so, she also had the opportunity to work with students from the Roxbury Prep’s Mission Hill campus, and found that it brought out her “inner nerd.”
Khernchrist Toussaint Lacoste is an 8th grade English Teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. He brings 11 years of instruction, management, mentoring and coaching to Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone. Previously, Mr. Lacoste served as a Program Coordinator for an alternative high school program in South Boston, where he also served as Case Manager and taught American History. Mr. Lacoste is a born and raised Bostonian, who attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he received a B.A. in African-American History.
Kerry Mency is the 5th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone School Campus. After eight years of employment with the Brockton Public School System, Mr. Mency’s experience includes working with Emotionally Impaired students in grades 6 – 8 as an Inclusion Adjustment Teacher at both the Raymond K-8 School and West Middle School. While working at the Raymond K-8 School, Mr. Mency also served as an Extended Day teacher for students in grades K – 6, providing academic support for at risk students. Mr. Mency has coached youth athletics at all levels. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Cambridge College and has an Associate Degree in Science from Massasoit Community College.
Jeanine Morris is a 6th grade English teacher at the Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone campus. Before joining Roxbury Prep, Mrs. Morris taught 1st grade at St. Rose School in Chelsea. Mrs. Morris has been teaching for ten years. Mrs. Morris holds a BA in psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
Kaylee Pena is a 6th grade English teacher. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone, Ms. Pena served as an Uncommon Schools Summer Teaching Fellow. Ms. Pena is a graduate of Roxbury Prep’s Mission Hill Campus. She graduated from Boston College with a BA in Educational Studies.
Kettlynn Prophete is the 7th grade History teacher at Roxbury Prep School Lucy Stone campus. Prior to joining Roxbury Prep, Ms. Prophete developed the vision of multicultural teaching practice curriculum at the Meadowbrook School of Weston in Weston, MA. She received both her B.A. in English and Master’s in Urban Education- Curriculum and Instruction at Boston College.
Sarah Riemens is the 8th grade History teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Prior to joining the faculty at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone, Ms. Riemens taught 8th grade English and American history in East Los Angeles for four years. She holds a B.A in History and Psychology from Dalhousie University and a Masters of Arts in Education from Alliant International University.
Meekerley Sanon is the 7th grade Science teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Before coming to Roxbury Prep, Lucy Stone, Ms. Sanon completed her B.S. in Brain & Cognitive Sciences with a minor in Public Policy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While at MIT, Ms. Sanon conducted research in early childhood cognition at Boston's Science Museum and Boston's Children Museum. In addition, Ms. Sanon completed a teaching practicum at the John D. O'Bryant School of Math and Science in Boston and received her teacher certification through the MIT-Wellesley Teacher Education Program.
CeSea Saunders is the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Prior to joining the faculty at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone, Ms. Saunders served as one of the Directors of Post-Secondary Support for Excel Academy for four years. While starting the Post-Secondary Department for Excel Academy, Ms. Saunders also served on the 7th grade team where she participated in developing 7th grade culture which included homeroom activities, leadership retreats and Long Comp celebrations! Ms. Saunders has also worked with HOPE, The Hispanic Office of Planning and Evaluation, the Academy of Public Service, and as a Senior Advisory teacher (Boston Public Schools). Ms. Saunders holds an B.S. in Communications/Marketing from Suffolk University, M.S. in Organizational Leadership for the Non-Profit Sector from Springfield College as well as a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College.
Ashley Sharpe-Porter is one of the Individual Needs instructors at the Lucy Stone campus. Ms. Sharpe –Porter graduated from Spelman College with a degree in Psychology. While in school, Ms. Sharpe-Porter had the opportunity to work with preschoolers at both Ashby Learning Academy, and Dean Rusk Head Start Academy. She also had the pleasure of mentoring high school students in the Atlanta Public School system, and now looks forward to embarking on a new journey as a part of the Roxbury Prep family.
Erin Sloan is the Director of Individual Needs at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Ms. Sloan has worked at Roxbury Prep for seven years in a variety of roles focused on Individual Needs instruction and management.
Korey Whitfield is the 6th grade History teacher at Roxbury Prep Lucy Stone Campus. Before coming to Uncommon Schools, Mr. Whitfield taught at Brookline High School in Massachusetts and in Richmond, California for Leadership Public Schools. More recently he worked for The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Boston Teacher Residency program. He holds a B.A. in Sociology, History and Education from Northeastern University and an Ed.M. from Harvard University with a concentration in Learning and Teaching.
Roxbury Prep Dorchester Campus Staff
Lester Carter is the Individual Needs Coordinator & Assistant Dean of Students. Lester spent the past seven years working at Bank of America before joining RPDC’s founding staff to start a new career. In his time at Bank of America, Lester has served as a Bank Teller, Senior Operations Analyst, and Senior Customer Service Specialist. Prior to joining Bank of America, Lester served as a City Year Corp Member at The Academy of the Pacific Rim in Boston. Lester holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island.
Steven Claudio is the Office Manager. Steven held a variety of part-time positions at Roxbury Prep’s Mission Hill Campus before coming to RPDC as the founding Office Manager. He has greatly enjoyed his full-time role as the founding office manager at RPDC. In his time at Roxbury Prep, Steven has worked as a tutor, Enrichment teacher, and Assistant Office Manager. Steven is a graduate of Roxbury Prep, Mission Hill and Boston Latin Academy, and is currently pursuing his Associate’s degree from Roxbury Community College.
Ray Cruz is the Director of Students and Administration. Ray has been excited to take on a new role as founding Dean of Students and work with a great new group of people in the Roxbury Prep community. Previously, Ray (a.k.a. Super Cruz) served as the Office Manager at Roxbury Prep’s Mission Hill Campus. Prior to working with Roxbury Prep, Ray was Director of Security at the Edgar P. Benjamin Healthcare Center, and has also worked for the Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons Hotels. Mr. Cruz has also served more than seven years in the United States Navy on submarine duty and as a military policeman. Mr. Cruz holds an A.A. in Business Management from Ashford University.
Vin DeLucia is P.E. Teacher and Assistant Dean of Students. Vin is RPDC’s founding physical education teacher and has taken on additional responsibilities with the Dean of Students. Vin has loved the opportunity to meet new people, new students, and join the staff at a new school. Vin spent two years teaching at the Bishop Woods School in New Haven, Connecticut teaching physical education to students in grades K-8. Vin also served as the football coach at Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, Connecticut. Vin earned a B.S. in Exercise Science Teacher Preparation from Southern Connecticut State University.
Evan Diamond is a 6th Grade Science Teacher. Evan is excited to join RPDC’s strongly unified school culture that clearly puts student success as its goal. Evan has taught math, English, and arts in a variety of different settings and countries, and most recently served as a Teach for America Corps Member in Philadelphia. In college, Evan mentored middle school students and peers and was Co-Captain of the Alpine Ski team. Evan holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He is pursuing a Master’s in Education from Boston University in Boston, MA.
René Haile the 5th Grade Math Teacher. As a founding math teacher at RPDC, René has enjoyed guiding students towards doing more than they thought possible. René is a former member of AmeriCorps and she served as the Community Center Director for the UNC—Greensboro Center for New North Carolinians. She also worked as a Supplemental Math Instructor at Caldwell Academy in Greensboro. Prior to working at Caldwell Academy, René spent two years as a Youth Camp Administrator and Assistant Coordinator in Nigeria through SIM International. René holds B.A. degrees in Mathematics and Bible and Religion from Erskine College.
Ji-Young Ham is a 6th Grade Math Teacher. Ji-Young joins RPDC after spending a year working with kindergarteners and 6th graders in the Philadelphia Public Schools. In college, she has also spent many summers as a mentor for young students in reading, writing, English, and fitness. Ji-Young received her B.A. in Mathematics and Education from the Smith College and her M.S.Ed in Elementary Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
Meghan Kezer is the 6th Grade History Teacher. Meghan greatly enjoyed being part of a team that has worked to make a difference in the lives of so many urban youths. Meghan was RPDC’s Community Meeting coordinator and Freshman Academy teacher this past year. Previously, Meghan taught literature and social studies to 7th and 8th grade girls at the Mother Caroline Academy and Education Center. At Mother Caroline Academy, Meghan also served as the Athletics and Activities Director. Meghan earned a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Boston University, and is completed her M.A. in Teaching from Emmanuel College.
Abby Lane a 6th Grade Math Teacher. Abby looks forward to returning to the classroom and inspiring RPDC students’ love of learning and math this year. Prior to joining RPDC, Abby worked at The Achievement Network, developing products that align with Common Core State Standards. Abby has also served as an Urban Education Leaders Intern with the District of Columbia Public Schools, an After-School Program Coordinator for the United Way of Santa Fe County, and a Group Facilitator with Girls, Inc. Abby holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, NM.
Sarah Lefeber is the 5th Grade Reading Teacher. Sarah joins RPDC from Harlem Academy, and is looking forward to working with other great RPDC teachers. At Harlem Academy, Sarah was the 4th grade lead teacher. She also had the opportunity to work with 5th-8th grade students in Girls’ Advisory and Reason & Rhetoric (speaking and writing). Sarah received B.A. in Elementary Education from Rollins College and her Master’s in Literacy Education at NYU.
Erika Maciaszczyk is the Individual Needs Apprentice Teacher. Ms. M is excited about witnessing and playing a part in students’ academic and personal growth at RPDC as an Individual Needs Apprentice. Erika spent the past year working on projects at RPDC with the Director of Special Projects. Prior to RPDC, Erika worked at Milton Academy as a substitute teacher. Erika holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in American Studies from Trinity College.
Kathryn McCurdy is the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction. Kathryn is excited about returning to Roxbury Prep after completing her pre-doctorate coursework at University of New Hampshire. Kathryn was the 7th grade Pre-Algebra teacher, Enrichment Coordinator, and Math Department Coach at Roxbury Prep’s Mission Hill Campus. She has also served as a Math Coach at the MATCH school and worked with the MATCH Teacher Residency. Kathryn is working towards a Ph.D. in Teacher Education at the University of New Hampshire, and she holds a M.A. in Curriculum Development from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Philosophy and Linguistics from the University of Kansas.
Mary McGrath is 6th Grade Writing Teacher. Mary is looking forward to working with intentionality and purpose towards RPDC’s very clear mission and set of values. Mary joins RPDC from Mother Caroline Academy, where she served as Teaching Fellow working with 6th Grade ELA, Social Studies, Science and 7th Grade ELA, and also as Disciplinary Coordinator and Administrative Facilitator. Prior to her work at Mother Caroline, Mary has worked as a volunteer educator with Children of South Africa in Cape Town, South Africa, and at Head Start in Bridgeport, CT. Mary has earned her B.A. in English and Creative Writing at Fairfield University and her M.A.T. in English at Emmanuel College.
MaryAdair McGrath is the Director of Special Project and Chief of Staff. MaryAdair feels lucky to be a part of growing and developing an excellent school at RPDC. Last year, she served as the Individual Needs Coordinator at RPDC. MaryAdair spent three years at YES Prep in Houston, where she served as the Special Education Teacher and Department Chair. She was a member of Teach for America’s 2009 Houston Corps, and she earned her B.A. in Government from Georgetown University.
Caton McKenna is the 5th Grade Writing Teacher. Caton has enjoyed getting to know a great group of students and colleagues in her founding year at RPDC. Caton joined RPDC from Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School in Nashville, Tennessee, where she taught 10th-12th grade Biology and Ecology. Caton also served as the Science Department Head, Common Planning Team Lead, and Teacher Mentor. Caton was a member of the 2009 Teach for America Nashville Corps, and she holds a B.S. in Communication from Cornell University.
Elisabeth Roche is a Learning Specialist. Elisabeth looks forward starting at RPDC so that she can be challenged and learn from experiences with students. Elisabeth joins RPDC from KIPP: Delta Elementary Literacy Academy where she teaches 2nd grade as a Teach For America Corps Member in the Mississippi Delta. In college, Elisabeth was the Co-Editor in Chief of The Villanovan, a campus newspaper. Elisabeth holds a B.A. in Political Science and Communications from Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Casey Siagel is the 6th Grade Reading Teacher. Casey was excited work alongside educators who are passionate about their craft and making a difference in the lives of students in her founding year at RPDC as the 5th grade Reading teacher. Before joining RPDC’s staff, Casey taught 6th grade English, Pre-Algebra, and Ancient Civilizations at the Del Mar Pines School in San Diego, CA. Casey has also served as the Del Mar Pines Summer School Administrator and taught Advanced Writing for the 8th and 9th Grade Accelerated English Course Summer Program. Before moving to Del Mar Pines, Casey spent six years teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English at St. Columbia School in San Diego. Casey holds B.A. degrees in English Education and English Textual Studies from Syracuse University.
Becca Varon is a 5th Grade Math Teacher. Becca has had a great time getting to know a new community of students and parents in her founding year at RPDC, while working towards a common goal with a group of like-minded people. Prior to RPDC, Becca served as a Teach for America corps member, teaching 6th grade at Challenger Middle School in Glendale, Arizona. She also served as the co-coordinator for the gifted program at the school. Becca graduated from Haverford College with a B.A. in Political Science, and received her Master’s in Secondary Education from Arizona State University.
Colleen Withers is the 5th Grade Science Teacher. After a fantastic founding year, Colleen can’t wait to meet the new RPDC staff and work as a team! As a Teach for America corps member, Colleen worked for two years teaching 7th and 8th science at William T. Machan Elementary School in Phoenix, Arizona. Colleen also served as the school’s Assistant Coach for the middle school girls’ basketball team. Colleen holds a B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Vermont, and completed her Master’s in Secondary Education from Arizona State University.
